In recent years, Model Predictive Control (MPC) has received a lot of attention for controls of HVAC systems because of significant improvement of the energy efficiency while respecting occupant comfort. MPC relies on dynamic models of building and HVAC systems to predict the system states for a specified time horizon and then applies optimization algorithms to minimize the cost functions. This paper presents the procedures of implementing ARIMAX model to develop control-oriented models for the thermal zones in buildings.
