Indoor climate effects work productivity in the office and contributes to employee fatigue and discomfort. Experimental research involving human subjects shows that cool office temperatures forestall the development of fatigue and may benefit productivity to a limited extent. Ways should be sought to keep the benefits of cooler office temperatures while avoiding discomforts now associated with them. A number of reasons are put forward to encourage a quest for conditions that will optimize human and energy effectiveness in offices.
