This paper presents summary information resulting from typical equipment performance calculations for several designs of indirect evaporative cooling apparatus and one design of a direct evaporative cooler. Data are presented for single-stage direct, single-stage indirect, and two-stage indirect/direct, configurations. Estimated performance is expressed in terms of temperature leaving the apparatus. Information is presented .for selected inlet temperature conditions at geographic locations with summer design temperatures indicative of low, medium, and high humidity.

The purpose of the paper is to promote consideration of the use evaporative cooling by showing what can be accomplished by its use in terms of temperature reduction. By being able to estimate leaving temperature conditions the designer may explore possibilities for using evaporative cooling on specific applications for cooling, humidifying and ventilating systems in all types of commercial and industrial applications in all climates.
