The Kyoto Protocol requires participating nations to limit growthof greenhouse gases, or reduce them, with the GHG production of 2010 to be compared to a baseline of 1990. The next several years will be a challenge for countries that are not meeting goals. In Canada, the federal government has accepted the national challenge posed by Kyoto and is looking for ways to reduce GHG emissions. This article describes a Canadian research pilot project on achieving major energy reductions in housing.
