The requirement of this project, as stipulated by ASHRAE, was to perform field testing on homes from which the duct distribution efficiency could be measured directly, with the results compared to predictions from Standard 152P. A minimum of 20 measured distribution efficiencies was to be obtained, with at least half of these being below 80%.

Another goal of this project was to compare modeled results using methods not included in the standard. These methods include both different techniques for measuring certain parameters such as duct leakage, and alternate methods of accounting for factors such as regain and the interaction of unbalanced duct leakage with natural infiltration.

Another goal of this project was to identify and document any practical problems with implementing the standard that were encountered in the field, along with additional observations that could influence the results.
