Several techniques exist to measure and control minimum outdoor air intake rates for VAV systems in accordance with the ventilation requirements of ASHRAE Standard 62-1989. However, guidelines are lacking to assess the accuracy and ease of implementation of each of these techniques. In this project, theoretical and experimental analyses are performed to evaluate several techniques for measuring and controlling minimum outdoor air intake rates in VAV systems. The findings of this research will be used to develop a set of guidelines intended for use by HVAC system designers and building operators to ensure that minimum outdoor air intake rates are provided by VAV systems.
