Although good data center design typically includes accounting for increased densities in the future, not many consider the potential need for an entire change in cooling system and/or form factor based on the next generation of semiconductor technology that is not yet known, but is likely to arrive before the useful life of the data center being designed. The danger of premature obsolescence of high dollar data centers has never been higher, nor more probable.
