This paper provides an overview of the use of numerical acoustics tools at an HVAC original equipment manufacturer. Since most applications of numerical acoustics are in product design and are therefore proprietary, this paper presents two case studies wherein numerical tools are used to solve classic acoustics problems. This first case study deals with using numerical tools to minimize the test time required to qualify a reverberation room for the 63 Hz octave band. The second case study deals with using numerical tools to calculate reflections from an open duct termination.l
