Examines considerations in developing design tools and calculation methods for cooling load due to lights. The basis is current research on the interaction of lighting and HVAC. States that considerations, or required decisions, include how many terms to include in the response equation, whether to use transient ‘on’ or ‘off’ tests as a basis for design coefficients, uncertainty in test results and the roles of testing and computer modelling.
