Surveys the considerations made in designing ventilation and air conditioning systems in Hong Kong to obtain a general picture of current practice. Questionnaires were distributed to building services engineering consultants, contractors and operation firms to collect information on the primary design objectives, design guides and criteria selected, considerations concerning the airflow pattern in the ventilated space induced by the system and the associated theories. Also evaluates the current design tools. Finds that improved methods for designing air distribution systems may be warranted.
