The development of Adiabatic Fluid Coolers provides a unique alternative to traditional evaporative or air-cooled heat rejection for optimizing energy and water usage in building HVACR systems. With the minimal use of water, the efficiency of a typical dry cooling application can be greatly increased, while still allowing the unit to operate dry during cooler periods. This Seminar will introduce this growing and developing technology, including basic types and operational strategies. A review of the new CTI Acceptance Test Code, a proposed ASHRAE 90.1 minimum efficiency metric, and the development timeline for a CTI certification program will also be presented.
