Under the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act enacted in December 2020, the phasing down production and consumption of currently used HFC refrigerants has initiated development and evaluation of new refrigerants. In this seminar, four different case studies about energy performance of low GWP refrigerants in refrigeration systems will be discussed. This includes experimental evaluation of R471A (GWP<150) in display cases and walk-in cooler, thermodynamic analysis of different architect of CO2 refrigeration system across 166 cities, laboratory assessment of load flexibility strategies in display cases and experimental assessment of display cases using R513A (GWP = 573) and R290 (GWP =3).
