Hiring an HVAC&R engineer who has previously signed a covenant not to compete can be dangerous. Such a covenant is a contract whereby the promisor (such as an engineer) agrees not to compete with a promisee (such as a past employer, past client, or purchaser of a business) in areas related to the promisee’s business.
