Funeral homes may not be one of the first types of buildings considered as a good prospect for saving energy. An engineer in Canada convinced an owner of a funeral home/crematorium complex to install a crematorium exhaust heat recovery system that would be used to heat the building and to melt snow on sidewalks. The system saves approximately 29 tons of greenhouse gases annually.
