The operating performance of a unitary, 3-ton, air-to-air heat pump and of the air distribution system on a mobile home have been analyzed. The heat pump, the air distribution system, and the mobile home were instrumented to determine their responses to outdoor ambient conditions and to generalize the characterizing relationships needed in an hour-by-hour analysis of seasonal performance.
The performance is characterized by the transient performance, the steady state response, the duty cycle and the defrost cycles. The dependence of these on weather is obtained based on actual field data for the unit tested.
