A Bloomfield, New Jersey, firm has built its metrication programs on the foundations established in the early 1970s by the company’s parent firm, a multinational organization. Reference materials, training, help for project execution, and awareness activities and displays help to instill in all employees the idea that Learning Metric is no Big Deal.
The Metric Information Center contains an extensive library of reference materials. Bulletin boards and posters are used to promote metric awareness. The annual observance of National Metric Week provides an excellent opportunity for “hands-on” experience with SI. A metric column in the company publication provides another means of publicizing advantages of SI and imparting information on SI and its usage. This magazine goes to all company employees worldwide, as well as to other businesses and organizations.
These metrication programs reflect, and will continue to reflect, total commitment to the changeover to SI in harmony with government actions, development of international and national standards, and industry conversion.
