This paper describes a pilot study carried out to investigate the measuring and processing aspects of a test system especially built for testing the performance of electromagnetic volume and energy meters against secondary parameters, such as pH, fluid conductivity, and chemical composition. The design and calibration of the test rig, made mainly of plastic materials, are described as well as the conditions for the control of the fluid conductivity.

The purpose of the study is to gain experience in testing with an accurately controlled fluid composition and conductivity, so that a large-scale test system can be made, in which volume and heat meters used in heating, cooling, or solar systems can be calibrated adequately with certain specific fluid compositions.
