This paper examines the thermal performance characteristics of a finned-tube heat exchanger of the type commonlyu sed as an evaporator in domestic refrigerators. A low-temperature experimental test setup was developed to emulate the actual operating conditions of the refrigerator application. For this initial stage of testing, a single-phase liquid was used on the tube side of the heat exchanger. The effects of tube geometry, fin spacing, and fin thickness upon the performance of the heat exchange.
