Reports a series of field tests on the performance of a staircase pressurisation system installed in a commercial building. The NBS/ASHRAE air flow network model proposed by Klote and Fothergill (1983) was used to simulate the system. After comparing the measured field test results with those simulated by the computer model, modification to the model is proposed. Finally, recommendations are proposed for improving the design of a smoke control system.
