Presents design tools for predicting the extra load resulting from shutting down HVAC systems. When the air conditioning system is turned on the following day, added energy must be supplied to raise or lower the room air temperature to the desired value. Normally the system start-up takes place before the building is occupied and the load can be referred to as the preconditioning load. Uses the DOE-2 building energy analysis program for the calculations. Generates general graphs for predicting the design requirements for a specific location.
