Both the conventional expression and the expression given by Kaushik and Shoridan (1981) and Kaushik et al. (1983) for the coefficient of performance (COP) of an ideal absorption cycle are misleading, and a correct expression is derived. Its derivation in COP values from the other two expressions increases with the increase in the temperature difference of the absorber and condenser. The expression derived excludes the subjective choices of temperatures in the derivation processes and is more perfect than the others.

KEYWORDS: coefficient of performance, absorption refrigeration, refrigeration, heating, cooling
