In this second part of a two-part paper on the chemical analysis of alternative refrigerant fluids, the use of separation methods and “wet methods” is discussed. This includes packed and capillary column chromatographic techniques and the unique sampling methods that are often required to handle alternative refrigerants. Several useful methods for analysing water are discussed. The last topic is reaction screening, a test programme that encompasses all analytical techniques discussed in both parts 1 and 2.
