Presents an analysis of the annual energy performance of hotels and motels in Ottawa, Canada, based primarily on energy bills and some general information provided by the building managers. PRISM was used to disaggregate the annual energy use into major components. States that on average steam consumption accounts for 45% of total energy use but only 24.2% of the total cost. Electricity and natural gas share almost equally in the balance of energy use. Electricity accounts for 59.6% of total energy cost, while natural gas accounts for only 16.2%.
