Provides a performance investigation of rotary compressors with five kinds of lubricants. Experiments on 19 test-working conditions, including the standard working condition (condensing temperature 54.4degC [129.9degF], evaporating temperature -23.3degC [-10degF]) for each lubricant, were conducted. The results of the experiments showed that coefficient of performance (COP) for HFC134a is lower than that for CFC12 when the evaporating temperature is below -20degC (-4degF). When the evaporating temperature is over -20degC (-4degF), the opposite results are obtained.
