In this paper, two novel desiccant cooling systems are introduced and are applied to various outdoor design conditions, especially in hot and humidareas. These systems are effective in the area where the use of thermal energy is more economical than electrical power. First, a thermodynamicmodel of each cycle component is derived. Then the model applied to predict the system performance under various outdoor design conditions. Thethermal COP and output temperature of each system is presented in contour plot forms. Based on these contour plots, thermal COP and outputcycle temperature can easily be estimated under various ambient conditions. In addition, the potential of the presented novel two-stage desiccantcooling systems to provide thermal comfort in various outdoor design conditions is evaluated. The results show that these systems are more efficientthan conventional desiccant cooling systems and can provide thermal comfort even in hot and humid climate.
