Radiant heating and cooling applications are classified as panelheating or cooling if the panel surface temperature is below 300°F (150°C), andas low-, medium-, or high-intensity radiant heating if the surface or sourcetemperature exceeds 300°F (150°C). In thermal radiation, heat is transferred byelectromagnetic waves that travel in straight lines and can be reflected. Thermalradiation principally occurs between surfaces or between a source and asurface. In a conditioned space, air is not heated or cooled in this process.Because of these characteristics, radiant systems are effective for both spotheating and space heating or cooling requirements for an entire building.Low-, Medium-, and High-Intensity Infrared HeatingPanel Heating and CoolingElementary Design RelationshipsDesign Criteria for Acceptable Radiant HeatingDesign for Beam Radiant HeatingRadiation PatternsDesign for Total Space HeatingTesting Instruments for Radiant HeatingApplicationsSymbolsNo. of Pages: 10
