Airflow and fan performance problems can be experienced with air-handling units if certain application criteria are not followed in the design and installation of air-handling machinery. Most difficulties can be avoided if these basic rules are followed. This paper will review some of the difficulties that can be experienced and how the problems could have been avoided at the design or application stage; and, in some cases, how the problems created by design or application oversight can be solved in the field.
