The federal power marketing authority in the Pacific Northwest conducted a major survey to collect data on the physical, economic, and energy-use characteristics of non-residential buildings in the region to which it supplies power. In the first phase of the data collection effort, summary information on locations, business type, and square footage was collected for nearly 14,000 non-residential buildings in the region. In the second phase, more detailed data on physical and energy-use characteristics were collected for a sample of 644 buildings. Describes this major effort to collect data on non-residential buildings.
