Building energy simulation has been identified as a keymethod for improving the design of energy efficient buildings and ANSI/ASHRAEStandard 209-2018 was created to help better define and facilitate this process.This article discusses how the standard defines reliable and consistentprocedures that advance the use of timely energy modeling to quantify theimpact of design decisions at the point in time at which they are being made.
