This paper reports the results of a study involving energymodeling of a typical K-8 school building equipped with differingheating and cooling systems including rooftop units, aground source heat pump system, a water source heat pumpsystem, and a central heating and cooling system with fan coilunits. In this paper, the modeling results were developed, relevantfirst costs estimated, and economics of the varyingsystems compared. Economic results are provided for all foursystems, including estimated operating costs, differences infirst costs between the systems, and economic paybacks givencurrent fuel prices.
