Measurement of the heat capacity of eighty-one commonly used building materials and compounds has been determined by an adiabatic calorimeter technique with accuracy of +/-5%. Refinements of technique necessary for some of the materials examined, are discussed. The results are examined, with the intent to demonstrate similarities in heat capacity values for groups of materials. A typical example of the possible use of specific heat information is also included.
