The availability of fuel throughout the world is a function of economics, politics and technology. Since all three of these factors are constantly changing, definitive statements about energy resources are rendered out-of-date in a matter of weeks, if not days. Nevertheless, basic knowledge of the size, location, and current status of the major fuel resources is needed for purposes of intelligent planning by the engineering community. The purpose of this paper is to present the energy resource picture as it appears in January 1984.
