The substitution of absorption heat devices for compressor heat devices can be expected to take place first in industry, where huge amounts of waste heat can be used to produce the required amount of cooling or heating capacity. The absorber is considered one of the most important parts of such devices. Most absorbers used in commercial absorption devices contain a bundle of horizontal tubes on the outer surfaces on which absorption takes place. An experimental absorption heat device that enables continuous operation with an aqueous lithium bromide solution as the working mixture was built and tested. In order to approximate the actual conditions in the absorber, the evaporator was placed in the same vessel. The absorber consists of smooth steel horizontal tubes that are cooled with water. The authors’ measurement data and other data were used in the present analysis.
