In this article, the authors discuss the results of a study they undertook to monitor and commission several daylighting control systems in the Midwest to demonstrate the industry’s current level of achievement. They show that there is potential for economical energy savings from daylighting controls, but that challenges remain in reaching that potential. Finally, during the commissioning phase of our work we compiled guidelines and tips for successful execution, startup, and commissioning of daylighting control systems that practitioners can use.
