Sustainable building design and construction often is promoted as a cost-savings measure. The literature routinely states that the original investment will be paid back within a relatively short time. The picture created by the marketing of sustainable projects is often inconsistent with the end result and leads the owner to believe that cost savings will be significant and easily realized.
