Note the lack of awareness of the average ASHRAE/ARI member of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and heat transfer. Presents an introduction to the CFD technique, with emphasis on the relevance to the HVACR industry. To this end, defines the CFD procedure and lists typical questions answered by CFD analysis. Discusses the advantages of CFD over physical experiments, the growing popularity of the method and the obvious applications in the HVACR industry.
