A new computational model of the human thermal system that accounts for asymmetric environments and includes extremities is reported. The model incorporates radial and circumferential heat transfer along with arterial and venous countercurrent blood flow. Digits are modeled using arteriovenous anastomoses to provide finer prediction of toe and fingertip temperatures, all of which are important in evaluating extremity discomfort.
