This paper provides some detail on the analog and digital computer modeling program that Carrier developed in the late 60s and early 70s to test for system interaction and efficiency. Sufficient information is provided to demonstrate the degree of detail incorporated into this dynamic system model. However, the primary purpose of this paper is to document the energy saving efficiency improvements obtainable when certain design improvements are incorporated into a residential gas-fired heating system.
