Advanced control strategies for serving the psychological and real needs for room temperature control under recent guidelines, which have been prompted by the need for energy conservation, are evaluated for practicality and technological requirements. A specific example of how a room thermostat might be designed and applied to serve within the new guidelines is addressed by this paper.
