The paper presents the development of a mechanistic first-order-lag model for a warm air furnace. The paper follows the format for model presentation adopted by the System Simulation Subcommittee of TC 4.7. In addition to the model development, the paper discusses the modes of operation of the model and outlines methods for determining model parameters and fitting this type of model to experimental data.
