The development of the concept of district heating has grown rapidly in this country during the past years. The piping systems are the most significant component in these systems. Various systems available will be discussed, along with their advantages and disadvantages. The use of mechanical joints in heating and cooling pipes will also be discussed. The advantages of this concept will be outlined. Research by various component manufacturers and experience gained in installed systems during the past 15 years will be given.
