Reviews and summarises previous research findings on the characteristics of diffuser air jets and airflow in the occupied zones of mechanically ventilated rooms, as well as their relationships. Compares results from different sources. Finds that it is possible to predict velocity, turbulence, and temperature characteristics in the occupied zone based on the characteristics of diffuser air jets. However, points out that methods that can quantify the effect of internal obstructions such as office partitions and furniture and the location of heat sources need to be developed.
