Control of carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration has been used for many years as an energy conservation measure in buildings to reduce outdoor air rates, and the energy required to condition the outdoor air, when spaces are not fully occupied. In fact, CO2-based demandcontrolled ventilation (CO2-DCV) is required for most densely occupied spaces by energy conservation standards such as ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2004, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, and California’s Title 24.1
