1. Scope
1.1
This Code applies to (a) the storage, handling, transportation, and transfer of propane; (b) the installation of appliances, equipment, components, accessories and containers on highway vehicles, recreational vehicles, mobile housing, outdoor food service units, and wash- mobiles when propane is to be used for fuel purposes; and (c) the installation of containers and equipment to be used for propane in distribution locations and filling plants and on tank truc ks, tank trailers, and cargo liners.

This Code does not apply to (a) marine or pipeline terminals; (b) petroleum refineries; (c) propane where used as a feedstock in chemical plants; (d) utility pipeline distribution and transmission pipelines; (e) refrigerated storage or underground reservoirs for propane; (f) propane used on boats; (g) propane used as a propellent in aerosol containers; (h) butane fuel cylinders of 250 g capacity or less; and (i) the installation of appliances, equipment, components, accessories and containers other than those used on highway vehicles, recreational vehicles, mobile housing, outdoor food service units, and wash-mobiles when propane is to be used for fuel purposes.

Where the term “”propane”” is used, the requirements of this Code apply equally to and include any material that is composed predominantly of any of the following hydrocarbons or mixtures of them: propane, propylene, butanes (normal butane or isobutane), and butylenes.

For the purpose of this Code, the requirements contained in CGSB Standard CAN/CGSB-3.14 for propane or CGSB Standard CAN/CGSB-3.13 for butane apply.
