1.1This Standard specifies kickback performance limits for gasoline-powered chain saws, 80 cm3 (4.88 in3) engine displacement and smaller, Classes 1A, 1B, and 1C, and electric chain saws, Classes 2A and 2C, as defined in CAN/CSA-Z62.1.

1.2 This Standard also specifies kickback limits for saw chains.

1.4In CSA Standards, “shall” is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; “should” is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; “may” is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard; and “can” is used to express possibility or capability.
