Reports that as part of an integrated approach to energy efficiency, commissioning of the illuminance and energy performance of an industrial lighting-daylighting system, and to a lesser degree of the overall mechanical/electrical integrity, was called for in a UK electronics manufacturing facility. States that as the on-site commissioning work proceeded, operational problems became apparent. These stemmed from unforseen harmonic interactions involving the electrical distribution system, the HID dimming system, and other highly reactive loads within the facility. At this point the commissioning shifted to assisting with this issue. While not planned for, the commissioning team was able to keep the owner’s staff updated on this problem, to collect data that they wanted and to return and issue an independent report on the situation. This in turn enabled them to work on feasible solutions.
