Our office was commissioned to design a heating and domestic hot water system for a football stadium for Colorado State University in Colorado. The owner, being familiar with steam, preferred low-pressure steam with a converter to heat glycol for building heating and second converter to heat water for a high shower demand. The stadium was to be drained after every game to conserve energy and prevent tanks, pumps, traps, and piping from freezing. It was necessary to eliminate as many “pockets†as possible to permit 100% drainage.
