The process of building commissioning and facility optimization is evolving with advancements in facility information technology. This article presents a case study of a project at the David Skaggs Research Center in Boulder, Colo., where building automation system (BAS) data and spreadsheet analysis techniques were used to identify operational problems, opportunities for increased efficiency and other improvements in the post-occupancy phase during the first year following construction.
