A microcomputer based hourly building energy analysis program was used to evaluate energy conservation potentials in 36 commercial buildings. The microcomputer program is structured similarly to DOE-2 and utilizes many of its subroutines; however, it uses “user friendly” procedures.

The program was evaluated by comparing the calculated energy use values with the actual utility bills. The comparisons were done for each fuel type using monthly and annual energy uses. The Root Mean Square Error statistics were also calculated and presented. The findings of this comparison revealed relatively close correspondence between actual and calculated values.
