A method for predicting the moisture performance of exterior walls in cold climates is developed, based on the effects of variation in climate on moisture and condensation conditions within the construction. The influence of indoor humidity, air leakage characteristics, radiation and thermal insulation arrangements are considered, and methods that minimize the risk or amount of condensation that is likely to occur or that facilitate moisture removal are discussed. Suggestions as to design principles and features for ,improved performance are offered.
